Helbling Technik thrives on the daily enthusiasm of its engineers for developing innovative solutions.

Workshop Donor: Helbling Technik AG

Interview with: Frederic De Simoni and Pascal Beyerle (members of the Executive Board).

Sustainable products and increasing efficiency in the operation of machines and means of transport will be of central importance in the future. This is not possible without good engineers.

Question 1: When and in what context did you first hear about Engineers' Day?
This year, we were personally asked by the management whether we would like to actively support the event at the Aarau site.

Question 2: This is the first time your company has taken part in Engineers' Day as a donor. Why are you involved in this event?
Helbling Technik thrives on the daily enthusiasm of its engineers for developing innovative solutions. A lot happens when people come together and jointly develop ideas that make our future more liveable. The event offers an opportunity to improve the visibility of engineers and engineering services and to strengthen the attractiveness of the profession, especially among young talent.
In addition, our (potential) customers also have the opportunity to experience us "up close and personal" through Engineers' Day.

Question 3: Which goal or goals would you emphasise as the most important priority in relation to your commitment to sustainability on Engineers' Day or in everyday life?
At the networking event on 21 January 2024 in Aarau, we will address SDG number 11: Sustainable cities and communities using the example of the city of Aarau. As a company with a site in Aarau, we are directly affected on the one hand and, on the other, we offer services that make a direct contribution to sustainability in line with our claim "Innovating a sustainable future".

Question 4: Why do you think engineers and their services are not recognised enough in everyday life and what can engineers do to improve this?
Engineers are certainly recognised. However, this is more when it comes to the topic itself and less when it comes to the perception of the general public. One reason for this may be that the content of the work is usually subject to a certain degree of confidentiality and the topics are often very technical in nature. Events such as Engineers' Day are intended to publicise the attractiveness of this profession beyond the industry. Especially when the topics are tangible and topical.

Question 5: If you had one wish to influence the promotion of young talent even more, who would it be and what would it be?
We would like to see a further increase in women's enthusiasm for STEM subjects and the engineering profession. Our experience at Helbling Technik has been very positive and we are already managing to increase the proportion of women bit by bit.
We also want to encourage the next generation to specialise in one area. After all, sound expertise brings technological progress. On the one hand, this means greater prosperity for all and - much more importantly - sustainability is created through technological innovation. This cannot happen without sound expertise.

Question 6: Do you have another wish in connection with Engineers' Day?
In 2024, the networking event will take place at the Culture and Congress Centre in Aarau. It was clear to us that we wanted to actively participate with Helbling Technik and our location in Aarau. We would be delighted to get regional and national politicians, operators of regional transport companies, municipal representatives, the industry in the field of smart and sustainable mobility and students and young engineers interested in our workshop.

Question 7: What do you see as the most important future challenge(s) for which we urgently need more engineers?
Sustainable products and increasing efficiency in the operation of machines and means of transport will be of central importance in the future. This will not be possible without good engineers. Because these developments require innovation. And by the way - as an innovation partner, Helbling can make a very significant contribution to a sustainable future.

Thank you very much for agreeing to this interview.
